Chapter 01: The Calm Before the Next Storm - Starry Sky [Video/Action]

[Someone is feeling a bit adventurous and daring tonight! If you’re walking by or looking out your window of House 4, you’ll find that one misfortunate loser who just so happens to be sitting on top of the roof. For a moment, he looks a bit uneasy because plenty of bad things could happen when you’re sitting on a rooftop! But regardless, he still simply wants to check out the beautiful view. Touma will awkwardly rub the back of his head before he starts speaking.]

Um... Quick question! I'm not breaking any laws by lounging on top on a rooftop, aren't I? I don’t get a chance to do this often, so please let this spirited youth be able to treasure this opportunity as long as he can-! [Hopefully, he won’t go crashing through the rooftop and into someone’s shower or something. He shakes off that thought immediately.] Anyway… It’s good to know that the stars here are much brighter than how they are back home. Whenever you live in a city, it’s tough to appreciate how precious nature really is. [With that said, he moves onto the next subject!]

I’m not very sure how to feel about that last experiment… But Halloween is coming up soon, so we should all be on our toes for what’s gonna happen. For those who have been here for a long time, do you think you could give this speculating Kamijou-san a little insight on what has happened these past few years? If I wake up underneath a pile of treat-or-treating candy or end up getting chased by zombies, then at least I’ll know what to yell out when the random event flag raises itself.

... Is anyone else up at this time or am I simply musing to myself?

[Touma almost screams from that motion and it looks as if he's going to run over to catch her from falling. But she ends up catching her balance and he lets out a brief sigh of relief before he spirals back into angry ranting with mixed with concern.]

Y-you idiot girl! Don't go making sudden movements on the roof! If you ended up falling off and I couldn't catch you, then what would've happened?! Actually, I don't want to think about what would've happened! And don't go putting labels on this Kamijou-san! I'm not a pervert, okay? [With that, he'll take in a deep breath and sigh.]

It's only natural for me to react like that when you start pointing out stuff like that, it's hardly my fault. Besides, anyone who would think of pointing out that region is immediately a pervert. Perhaps I should start wearing a different kind of outfit around people like you, Kamijou-san. [ but she's mostly just still embarassed. ]

I told you to cut it out with the 'Ange-hime'.. Even if you like making up nicknames like that, such a cute sounding nickname doesn't suit me at all. [ okay, Ange, breathe, slowly try to calm down and get out of this again.. ] And I'm not changing any sort of image. If you're going to point out stuff like that, it's only natural I'd get annoyed.

I still don't understand why you don't like nicknames. Or see yourself as a cute girl...! Ummm... Should I change it to 'Ange-sama' then? Aah... That sounds awkward coming from me. [He'll sit down properly now.] Eh? I wasn't trying to annoy you. I just thought that you were really cold.

'Ange-sama' just sounds like you're supposed to be my servant or something like that. Or do you perhaps have some weird kind of fetish where you want to call yourself my lowly furniture and want me to use you as a footstool? [ get it, it's funny since it's umineko.. okay no.. ]

Um... I'm no expert on meteorology, but doesn't the temperature usually begin to drop rapidly around this time?

You were the one who brought up calling me 'Ange-sama' out of nowhere. That doesn't even come close to any kind of nickname.

It was October for me back home too, and I could always walk around just fine in this.

... [Touma blinks at this. This seems to be a really popular month.] Eh? Just what happened, Ange-san?

My entire family died twelve years ago in an incident. [ and she manages to say it with more or less her regular voice - maybe still a little bit softer, but calm all the same. ] That was in October as well.

... Seriously? That's... [He's not sure if he should be amazed with how well she can drop serious bombs like that. He doesn't even remember any of his family members outside of his mother and father.] ... I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think I could imagine how rough it's been for you.

[ How rough it's been.. Well, he probably can't, considering pretty much everything that could go wrong in Ange's life went wrong. ]

... More or less. The only aunt that did survive the incident was the one I ended up not getting along with at all. [ But she usually isn't really into having huge pity parties about herself, so.. ] I'm sure there are people in this place who've had worse, though.

..... Mmm. [Awkwardly rubbing the back of his head.] Back in my world, this was the month when World War Three had started. A lot of events had happened in the middle of that war... The world was almost destroyed.

World War Three..? [ Okay, now that's enough to surprise her a little, raising an eyebrow. ] Back in my world, there have only been two so far.. Although people have been afraid at times of a third breaking out and possibly being world destroying like you said. But.. it ended for you now?

That's right. The situation was complicated, but it came down to a battle between science and magic. Anyway... I took care of the angel with my right hand, so everything should be back to normal for everyone.

... You actually solved a World War on your own?

[ Well, this guy just keeps surprising in more than one way, she guesses. ]

See, compared to that my story is a little boring, isn't it? I'm nothing like apparent world saviour Kamijou Touma.

What are you talking about? You're more of a main character than I'll ever shape up to be. And there's no way that a high school student could take all of the credit for ending a war. This isn't a shounen manga, you know. [But saving the world from total destruction is a Very Big Deal, Touma...]

There were plenty of soldiers, friends and faceless people that I won't ever meet that have laid down their very lives in that war. Some people probably had families that they could come back to and others won't be able to see those families again. Those people out there are the true saviors... Not me.

If you say that, you're definitely selling yourself short, Kamijou-san. Sure, it might be true that those other people are saviours in a way too, and they should be thanked for having done all they could for what they believed was right, but all the same.. if you did that much, you're more than just an ordinary high school student. Or at least deserve more credit than one.

You're right about that. That's why I need to bow my head to them and apologize for going missing for a while. Especially Index... I don't think I'm going to get away with just a head bite this time.

Actually.. someone told me before that while we're stuck here, time back home stands more or less still until we return. So nobody should have noticed you were gone, even if you would be stuck in this place for years.

Seriously? That's conforting to know, but it's still a bit creepy at the same time...

Why do you think it's creepy..? I mean, it's little different from the fact that we were all kidnapped here in the first place.

I know that, but still... To think everything back home will be in a frozen state. It's kinda like those Sci-Fi movies where you enter a different timeline from the present or something like that.
